We are excited to have Uma Wang  in New York as part of the CFDA/ Vogue Fashion Fund China Exchange.  We caught up  with Uma to find out what she did first after checking in at the W New York Downtown.

What is the first thing that you did after arriving in NYC?

I quickly dropped off my luggage and immediately went out and walked around.

What are you most looking forward to?  (We are keeping Uma busy with a lot of amazing people to visit.)

EVERYTHING!!  I wake up every morning excited to go out and see everything.

Do you have a favorite NYC food?

Well it’s just the beginning of my trip but I love Café Habana – a little restaurant I visited on my last trip.

(Uma had it saved on her phone and with the website link so it must be good!)

Favorite stores to visit?

Barneys!  (Uma will get to spend time with their team and sounds like she will definitely make some time to shop for herself as well…)

Which has better shopping NYC or Beijing?  (Uma is from Hebei which is northern China.)

NYC of course!  (good answer Uma.)

Favorite thing about NYC?

The energy that you find here – you can actually feel it.  And of course the museums and art galleries – I’m always happy to make time for these.

Do you see any differences between American and Chinese designers?

The market is more mature in America so I think designers have a good balance of creativity and financial ability.  The market here also offers more opportunities for younger designers and brands which is amazing.

We’ll be catching up with Uma next week to find out the highlights of her busy trip at the W New York - Downtown party hosted in her honor.
